I think visiting the charities was a good chance to see the facial expressions of the members of the organization because, they seemed happy. I’m glad we were able to raise money for different charities. Also, the most memorable experience was to tour the facilities of the organization and to actually see what they do.

We finalized our fundraising plan. We already talked to the head supervisor of this charity and she is in agreement that its a good idea. It was very helpful

I wasn’t present for the 990 activity but, I believe my classmates had to look up what there charity spend. They could see how much money there charity was spending during the duration they have started the organization. They could see what there charity put there money towards and how much they have received.

The first panel was very interesting because I got to learn about the charities my classmates picked. Also, it helped me to see if I would want to help those charities as well. This time it was two charities who were speaking about there organization and purpose. I think it would be better if there was only one charity for one panel class because, it will be easier to avoid one charity talking about her charity more than the other one. I noticed that one lady was kind of overriding her charity and the other lady didn’t really get to speak as much.

I think the Panel class went well and I learned a little bit more about the charity. The panel class really gave me an insight on the charity and there purpose. They also helped me to come up with possible fundraising ideas. Now I know how much money it will be to save a dog so that helped me to create a goal for fundraising. My questions got answered clearly.

Considering your teams’ purpose, mission and vision, do you feel that the charity your team had attend the panel class (either from the first or second panel class) shares the same mission as your team, and does the charity leader seem to possess the qualities you feel are important to guide the organization in achieving its mission?

Yes, I feel like my charity and my group mission was the same. They do raffle tickets which was an idea that we were going to use to fundraise money.

2. Having now heard directly from the charities, would you say you feel more connected, less connected, or about the same towards your charity?

I feel the same towards my charity because, I strongly believe in what they do.

3. Other than the charity you invited, do you feel strongly enough to want to support someone else now that you heard them speak?

Listening to other charities allowed me to want to also contribute to their charitites.

4. Now that you’ve analyzed your charity both quantitatively and qualitatively, would you be comfortable recommending them to another person, or would you   need more information first?

Yes, I would recommend this

I talked to my mom, my friend and my cousin about Main Street philanthropy. I asked them what they think about philanthropy. My mom said it was a good idea but, how is math involved with this. I agree with my mother because I was looking forward to learn about financing and how to pay bills….. you know something I would use later on in life. On the bright side I love helping others in any way that I can so this is a great way to serve the community. My friend said that he doesn’t really care for it that much and advertising it should be done better. My cousin is a junior in hs. She doesn’t like math so she said she would like this class.

I think that the paper bag activity was pointless mainly because, my group didn’t really follow the rules. They just named what they brought but we were supposed explain why we brought it. As a result to this we finished early and I didn’t really learn more about them.
