Week 2

From the paper bag exercise I learned that I value my pets quite a bit. I learned that my classmates really enjoy music. I am in group 4. Our idea was to either sell T-shirts or to all pitch in $50.00 because there is 6 of us. Therefore it would make $300.00. We thought about giving money because we all support the Veterans in our own way. Veteran services are important to our group so donating our self, in my opinion, would show we support ourselves.

Week 2

During the brown paper bag activity, I learned that my group members were into sports and food, like most people. Also, Nick really like old cars (which he was the only one). Our group will be helping people, adults and children, with mental and physical disabilities and donating money to a program who assists people with those specific needs.

Week 2

Because i was not here, if i would have been here i would have brought a picture of my cat, my phone and a picture of my family. These three things represent me because my friends, my family and my cat are all the things that i care about the most. I can’t say what i learned because i wasn’t here but from what I’ve read i see a lot of my peers really enjoy music. But in all honesty that was expected. My team decided my fundraiser will be to sell bracelets.

Week 2

I learned that a lot of my group members have the same thing in common, we all like listening to music as well as the rest of the class. My team will be making cookies and puppy chow after school this week and we will be selling them at Piggly Wiggly from 9am-1pm on saturday the 17th. All of our profits will be going to the food pantry. I’m going to eat all the cookies by myself.

Week 2

When we did the brown paper bag activity I realized that lots of people listen to music and own ear buds. Our group will be fundraising to raise money for the Kewaskum food Pantry from December 17th 9am to 1pm. I told my mother about it.

Week 2 – Brown Bag

When we did the brown paper bag activity, I learned that there are tons of kids that listen to music, I was pretty sure of this already, but the amount of kids that brought in their earbuds was still surprising to me.

Our team fundraiser will be raising money for the Kewaskum Food Pantry. On December 17th, from 9am-1pm, we plan to sell christmas cookies and puppy chow at the local Piggly Wiggly, and then the money that we make off of that will go to the food pantry. After school on Thursday my group will be baking the cookies that we will sell the following Saturday.

The three people that I talked to about Main Street Philanthropy were my dad, and two of my close friends. My dad was happy to hear that this group aims to help get checks into the hands of local charities, while my two friends were both happy to hear that MSP is something that is being held right here, in our very school.

Week 1 – MAD Cards

During the mad card review I learned that I am really intrigued in helping others. For example the three cards I picked were Hunger, Special Ed services and Veteran Support. I picked Hunger because it is a huge problem worldwide. I picked Special Ed Services because those children/adults deserve all the help they need. I then picked Veteran Support because the Vets serve our country for our freedom. The deserve as much as they can get also. What I want to get out of this is, I want to become a better leader. I also want to become more educated in the leaders of America.

Week 1 – MAD Cards

I thought it was kind of easy to choose three cards I would like to look into. I saw how many people need help and it made me want to help out. I would like to look more into Medical Research because to me it is very interesting I would like to do whatever I could to help out. It showed that there are a lot of people that need medical cures for diseases and they need help. I would also like to become a better leader outside of this class and to be able to help others out if they are in a rough situation and have more of a positive attitude.

Week 1 – Make a Difference Cards

I really enjoyed the “Making a difference” cards. I realized that I believe that health, and health research, along with the protection and awareness of environmental issues and preservation is the most important support group to my personality. This shows me that I value the world and environment that I live in as well as the well-being and comfort of others that I interact with each day. Throughout this course, I am hoping that I increase my social, communication and leadership skills in order to be a better candidate for jobs in the workforce. Also, I plan on understanding what differentiates a good from a bad charity. I am very excited to develop and learn new skills throughout this twelve weeks.
